Panel organized on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

​25 November 2016, Istanbul Aydın University 

IAU UNESCO Chair in Cultural Diplomacy, Governance and Education hold the Panel on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women at “Orange Hall”, in November 25.

The Panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Celal Nazım İrem, Chairholder of UNESCO Chair in CDGE. Panelists were Zehra Taşkesenlioğlu, AK Party Economic Affairs Deputy Chairman, Assoc. Dr. Ebru Ceylan, IAU Faculty of Law, Assist. Prof. Burcu Güdücü, IAU Faculty of Art and Sciences, Sociology Department and Neslihan Aslıhan Family, Couple and Marriage Therapist.  Panelists discussed the legal, sociological, and psychological dimensions of the topic. 

Panel organized by UNESCO Chair in CDGE on the occasion of the International Migrants Day

22 December 2016, Istanbul Aydın University 

IAU UNESCO Chair in Cultural Diplomacy, Governance, and Education held the Panel on the occasion of International Migrants Day, at IAU Florya Campus, on December 22nd.

Following the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Celal Nazım İrem, Chairholder of UNESCO Chair in CDGE, the Panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Hatice Deniz Yükseker, Head of Political Science and International Relations Department at IAU. Panelists were Hakan Ataman, Coordinator for Refugee Support Projects at Citizens’ Assembly and Erdinç Kalıntaş, Director of Community Center at Support to Life International Humanitarian Aid discussed the current status of and activities for international migrants in Turkey, with a focus on Syrian refugees. 

International Day for Solidarity with Palestinian People

29 November 2016, Istanbul Aydın University 

The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is observed by the United Nations on or around 29 November each year.  In 1947, November 29 UN General Assembly adopted resolution 181 (II) which provided for the establishment in Palestine of a “Jewish State” and an “Arab State”, with Jerusalem as a corpus separatum under a special international regime.

Palestine has been a member of UNESCO since 2011. UNESCO Chair in CDGE commemorated this important day, with the participation of Representatives of the Palestinian Community in Turkey and Palestinian Students at IAU, accompanied by cultural events and a Palestinian dance performance of dabke.
